WHY I WALK

I LOST ALMOST EVERYTHING.
I DID NOT LOSE MY FAITH.

Addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling brought devastating consequences into my life. I lost my home, and the family life I had spent years building fell apart.

At one of the lowest points of my life, one thing remained with me — my faith. I felt that God reached out His hand to me.

Cross of England 2027 is my way of giving thanks, openly witnessing to Jesus Christ and proclaiming the Gospel, and turning painful experience into something that may help another person take a first step toward freedom and recovery.

I do not present myself as a therapist or addiction professional. I can offer testimony, conversation and encouragement. Professional treatment belongs to professionals.

THE EXPEDITION PRINCIPLES

EVERY STEP OF THE CROSS WILL BE WALKED.

The rule is simple: forward distance is gained only on foot.

EVERY MILE ON FOOT

No car, bus, train, taxi or other transport will be used to advance along the route.

IF THE WALK STOPS, THE ROUTE STOPS

If a walking day ends, the next day resumes from the exact point where it stopped.

MY TENT WILL BE MY HOME

The primary accommodation plan is the lightweight shelter carried throughout the journey.

THE JOURNEY WILL BE DOCUMENTED

GPS track, photographs, video and an expedition journal will record the route and the story.

On selected sections, people may be invited to walk alongside for a mile, several miles or part of a day — people in recovery, families affected by addiction, clergy, recovery workers, supporters, sponsors and local residents.

Cross of England aims to signpost people affected by addiction toward established recovery communities and appropriate professional help. No organisation will be described as a sponsor, partner or endorser without explicit permission.

Public support links will only be added after destinations and wording have been verified.

The project is looking first for practical in-kind support. One organisation does not need to fund the whole expedition — a network of specialist partners can support different parts of the journey.
